Vision for Competitiveness: Mid-Decade Opportunities for Strategic Victory
NSC-68, a top-secret document drafted in 1950 by Paul Nitze, shaped U.S. strategy during the Cold War. It was developed due to concerns about the Soviet Union's growing power and influence, including their acquisition of nuclear weapons, and the spread of communism in China. The document presented a stark view of the world, divided between the United States and its allies, and the Soviet Union.
It called for strengthening the U.S. military and implementing a containment strategy to limit Soviet expansion.
NSC-68 provided a clear framework for U.S. policy throughout the Cold War, and its purpose, clarity, and structure have inspired us at SCSP to to develop a grand strategy for the United States and its allies for the current era of rapid technological advancement and intensifying geopolitical adversity.
SCSP will release this Vision for Competitiveness shortly after the AI Expo.
It will outline how the United States - working with its allies - can bolster national strength, strengthen alliances, rebuild deterrence, catalyze American prosperity, and ensure our leadership in the coming era of AI-driven technological innovation.
Success between 2025 and 2030 is critical; only a decisive strategy can seize the moment and rejuvenate confidence in our institutions, fortify global leadership, and secure national interests for decades to come.
Stay tuned…
