Memo to the President on Advanced Manufacturing
Revitalizing U.S. Advanced Manufacturing Capabilities
I'm Ylli Bajraktari, CEO of the Special Competitive Studies Project. In today’s episode of the #MemosToThePresident series, I sat down with Associate Directors for Economy, Addis Goldman and Brady Helwig, to highlight our newest memo on Advanced Manufacturing. This memo outlines a strategy to reestablish U.S. leadership in advanced manufacturing through targeted technology development, organizational reforms, and national policy interventions. I hope you enjoy the conversation!
While China's manufacturing dominance presents serious economic and national security challenges, emerging technologies like industrial AI and advanced robotics offer a unique opportunity to revitalize American industrial leadership. The new administration must make advanced manufacturing a national priority in the following ways:
Drive AI-Enabled Innovation in Advanced Manufacturing
Reorganize and Scale the Manufacturing Policy Ecosystem
Forge National Policies to Drive Technology Adoption
By acting decisively to implement these reforms, the United States can rebuild its manufacturing capabilities, secure critical supply chains, and ensure that the factories of the future are built on American soil.
