Methodology and Sourcing:

We analyzed 78 sources and extracted references to specific technologies included in each report. These specific technologies were then manually grouped into the 44 categories shown below. We then counted the number of mentions of each of these categories to generate our final rankings. This method is potentially limited by the types and number of reports that we reviewed. Nevertheless we believe we have collected a representative sample to provide a general indication of interest in particular technology areas by different actors in the innovation ecosystem.
